AndBeyond Grumeti River Lodge

AndBeyond Grumeti Tented Camp is suitably located on the banks of a tributary of the Grumeti River. This distinctive and luxury camp is situated in the western reaches of Serengeti National Park, just 30 miles, East of Lake Victoria.

The proximity to water draws a number of game searching for water and seasonal resident hippo pods can be spotted in the river pools, directly in front of the guest tents.

Besides AndBeyond Grumeti Tented Camp’s location in the remote western corridors of the Serengeti, there are few nearby lodges, and no one can easily see vehicles. This makes for an exhilarating game viewing experiences with the feeling of authentic exclusivity.

Rooms and Facilities

AndBeyond Grumeti Tented Camp is rustic yet sophisticated, this camp has a warmth to it that makes it a home away from home. AndBeyond Grumeti Tented Camp has ten spacious en-suite tents set on a stone platform, beneath a thatched roof. Each tent possesses a king size bed, a large hand-woven rug, a fan and a mosquito net. To the rear is a flush toilet and shower room, whereas the toilet is enclosed, the shower has no ceiling, and the experience of bathing under the stars is something else.

The guest tents feature shaded private veranda’s that look out over the river frontage. All tents share facilities including: a main bar, dining room, seating area, brick pit fire, pool and an outdoor viewing space, complete with Wi-Fi access among others. The Camp’s interiors combine hues of wildebeest grey with accents of natural stone and bone, and stone shower towers are open to the sun and stars.

Intimate guest areas include open-fronted sitting and dining areas, as well as a domed bar, all adorned with glass pendants and whimsical touches. Spacious decks are authentic for enjoying sundowners overlooking the river and the camp’s rim-flow swimming pool which offers a spectacular view of the seasonal hippo pools beneath

Food and Services

Meals can be enjoyed in a variety of dining areas and traditional fires known as “jikos” produce mouth-watering aromas.
The Pan African cusine, served outside, is cooked in clay ovens, a traditional fires called Jikos and often in front of the guests. The service at AndBeyond Grumeti Tented Camp is equally good, and the balance between comfort and wildness is finely wrought.

Activities at AndBeyond Grumeti Tented Camp.

AndBeyond Grumeti Tented Camp offers activities including wildlife drives, bush picnics, sundowners, Hot air ballooning and an excursion to Lake Victoria.
However, Grumeti is best visited between June and August, when the river is in flow and the migration reaches the western corridors. Expect to encounter large lion prides and clans of hyena, big herds of wildebeest and black and white colobus monkeys, found nowhere else in the Serengeti.
The sounds of the African night provides a gentle backdrop to tales of the day’s safaris.
