When to Travel to Olakira Migration Camp

Since Olakira Migration Camp follows the wildebeest herds through the Serengeti,  it embodies the Romance of Classic  African safari, which guarantees seeing the Great Migration at any time of year (except April and May and the latter half of November, when the camp is closed). July and August are the busiest months in the Serengeti, when there will be many other visitors in the area.

Location

Olakira Migration Camp is in the Southern plains of Serengeti from December to March, where thousands of wildebeests go for calving and graze on the lush grass, while predators including the Lions and Cheetahs gather together to prey on the calves of the wildebeests.

Whereas, between June and November, the Migration Camp of Olakira is in the north to witness the Mara River, where thousands of Wildebeests crossover the river, while facing hungry Nile Crocodiles and hippos.

Being a migratory camp, the emphasis is not on the camp, but on the experience of being out in the wilderness and surrounded by game. This, Olakira Migration Camp executes really well and, for those looking to have a more “raw” experience while on safari then we would recommend Olakira Migration Camp.
